Jazz Age Lawn Party

Had the best day today hanging out with friends and putting on my dancing shoes!  We went to the Jazz Age Lawn Party on Governors Island.  I even got M.D. to dance!  If you didn't get to go, here is a little video of some of the festivities.

The Alder I get, the more I want a tree house

Do you still have childish whims?  Lately, mine have been overwhelming.  I have been dreaming of living in the trees, specifically tree houses.  The summer heat reminds me of a childhood spent up in the leaves-sleep overs with friends in the tree house my father built for me. 

I am glad to see that I am not the only adult in the world that would still love to have her very own tree house.  Alexandra Meyn, lives in Brooklyn, NY and armed with a budget of only $400 dollars, she created a little sanctuary of her very own. 

I know if I could, I would, but would you?  

Call me the "Instagrid Kidd."

Everyday it seems like there is some new social media platform that appears from thin air.  Instagrid allows you to view Instagram users' profiles from any web browser.  Pretty cool ehh?

This year the growing season in New York was crazy.  March saw tempetures in the 80's and after April 15th  (our frost date) we got another frost that killed tender seedlings.  I usually plant from seeds, but this year I ended up planting many mature plants.  

When I was done, scattered all over my potting table we tons of plastic pots.  I thought, I can do something with these.  Well, this is what I came up with.  I used Mod Podge and pretty paper applied to clean pots. After the pots were dry, I sprayed a sealant on them to keep them from getting ruined by the rain.

Voila!  New pots that other wise would have gone in the garbage!
